Occupational Therapist - United Ability, Formerly UCP of Greater Birmingham

Adult Day Program- Birmingham, AL

Monday - Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30pm, Benefits Eligible



Assist participants in developing, recovering, improving and maintaining the skills needed for daily living and working.  Conduct initial and follow-up assessments and evaluations for adult participants.  Consult with parents, caregivers, and vendors. 


Facilitates range of motion, fine motor coordination activities, strengthens and maintains current function for participants; Conducts assessments and completes yearly evaluations; Provides quarterly progress reports.  Documents daily sessions in Therap; Assists with aquatic therapy, special equestrians, wheelchair mobility; Conducts staff training; Assesses participant’s participation in vocational area, Life Enrichment Programs, and home; Consults with durable medical equipment vendors regarding orders, repairs, and fittings; Communicates with other medical providers as needed; Communicates with residential providers and family and provides training where needed; Attends doctor appointments at LINCPoint regarding participant rehab and medical needs; Trains, implements, and obtains assistive technology; Makes and creates assistive technology to improve performance in vocational area and classroom; Identifies need of orthotics and DME, obtains paperwork, and assesses Medicaid coverage; Schedules and attends wheelchair seating evaluations; Works with OT students and professors on school projects; Works closely with other therapists; Maintain up to date medical records including prescriptions; Attends annual ISP and staffing meetings; Submit documentation for billing for participants.

Education / Experience:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in OT is preferred; however, new graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Minimum of BS degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Alabama license (or eligible to take the examination) from Alabama State Board of Occupational Therapy

READ-ABLE ATC is seeking a certified occupational therapist for a growing multi-disciplinary practice in the heart of Gwinnett.  READ-ABLE ATC provides a comprehensive collaborative approach for children who require support to succeed in school, at home, and in the community. READ-ABLE ATC OFFERS academics, including reading and math assessment and instruction, occupational therapy, music therapy, and counseling. 

The ideal OT will have experience with children with learning disabilities, developmental delay, physical disabilities, and autism. If you like variety, are creative in supporting social and academic goals and enjoy a collaborative environment, READ-ABLE ATC is the ideal practice setting for you.

Board certification in Occupational Therapy

Experience in working with children and adults with a variety of disabilities
