Pediatric Occupational Therapist

Let's Play Therapy Center is hiring a pediatric occupational therapist (OT) to join our dedicated team of OT, PT, and SLPs at our outpatient clinic in Spanish Fort, AL. 

The occupational therapist will conduct assessments of children referred for occupational therapy services and develop individualized treatment plans to address each child's unique needs. The OT will monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. 

Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current Occupational Therapist license in Alabama

Occupational Therapist (Full-time or PRN)

Full-time position in Montgomery, AL

Position Goal:
To provide the highest level of patient care while accessing, interpreting, planning and implementing prescribed physical therapy treatment plans.
Position Responsibilities: 
This position is PRN/as needed
• Plans and administers occupational therapy (OT)  treatments for patients referred by qualified physicians. .  
• Observe and become aware of progress of patient, discuss with physician as necessary. ..
• Record progress notes on a daily basis. . 
• Instruct patients in home exercise programs and provide written instructions as appropriate..
• Serves as an information and education resource for patients, families, and other members of the therapy staff.
• Fabricate splints, braces, hand and wrist covers,  etc   to support hand therapy treatments as required.    .
• Provide for a comfortable, orderly, clean and safe clinic environment..
• Comply with all national and state guidelines as required by law.. 
•Provide effective and ethical intervention to promote healing and restore function. .
• Participates in education opportunities to maintain licensure and facilitate the highest standard of practice.

Hughston Responsibilities:
Utilize effective communication skills (written and verbal) interacting with co-workers, other clinic employees, supervisors, and outside vendors. 
Promote The Hughston Clinic's role in the community by greeting and interacting with all patients, families, visitors, vendors, and guests in a courteous and respectful manner.
Provides support or relief for other staff as needed . 
Demonstrates confidentiality in all aspects to include both patient and non-patient issues . 
• Reflect THC values and is sensitive to TH.C's ethical and compliance principals in his/her daily activities.
• Promote resolution of concerns and conflict by routing through correct mechanism or resolving the sit11ation.

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Essential Functions:
 Lift and carry 50 pounds, move patients and equipment. 
Marginal Functions: Reach for and manipulate equipment and patient, visual acuity, hearing and speaking. 
Accommodations: Standard hand clinic equipment provided. 
Environmental Factors: General medical hospital environment OSHA category 1

Position Requirements:
Experience
: 2 years previous OT experience preferred.  Splinting and wound care experience preferred. 
Education: Bachelors degree in occupational therapy required.
Special Qualifications: Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred.  Must have current Occupational Therapy License, state modalities certification preferred.  Current BLS certification required.. 
Outside Relationship: Must be able to maintain working relationship with physicians. .
Interaction With Other Departments: All hospital and clinic Departments
Employees Supervised: COTA, and Rehab Aides
