Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care: Normal Aging verses Not Normal Aging

Presented by Laura Smith, MS, OTR/L and Kelly Krigbaum, BS, COTA/L

This workshop highlights normal and not normal aspects of aging, with a focus on the impact of both types of aging on occupation. The interactive Adult Experiential Learning Cycle format allows the participant to step into the roles, habits, and routines of persons with normal and not normal aging by having them participate in an aging experience, reflect on the experience through guided discussion, and to tie the experience to future application in their Occupational Therapy practice. This process leads the participants to the development of a client-centered approach to working within the contexts of persons living with dementia that supports their health and participation in occupations. This course was developed by an Occupational Therapist, Teepa Snow, and is presented by two Occupational Therapy Practitioners within the context of this workshop for Occupational Therapy Practitioners.
