Required Components for Proposal Submission

To submit a complete proposal, please include the following:

  • Presentation Title – Clearly reflect the topic of your session.
  • Learning Objectives – Define key takeaways and expected outcomes for attendees. (Example: Objective Writing Guide.pdf)
  • Abstract – Provide a concise summary outlining the purpose, content, and relevance of your presentation. (Example: Abstract.pdf)
  • References – Cite relevant sources to support your content and ensure accuracy. (Example: Reference Rational.pdf)
  • Speaker Bios – Include a brief professional biography for each presenter, highlighting qualifications and expertise.

Ensure all components are complete to be considered for the conference program.

ALOTA Offers Three Presentation Formats

We encourage you to carefully review the following presentation options and select the format that best aligns with your topic and expertise:

  • Workshop: A 2-hour session led by experienced practitioners. Topics should be directly relevant to current or emerging occupational therapy practice. Sessions may include lectures, hands-on learning experiences, or interactive components.
  • Short Course: A 50-minute session focused on topics that have a direct impact on current or future occupational therapy practice.
  • Poster Presentation: Posters will be presented in a short-course format, with each presenter speaking for approximately 15 minutes. Posters should align with the American Occupational Therapy Association's Vision 2025 and showcase scholarly research, innovative practices, or evidence-based interventions.

Determining the Educational Level of Your Presentation

When submitting your proposal, please select the educational level that best matches your content and target audience:

  • Introductory: Designed for practitioners with little to no prior knowledge of the topic. The focus is on foundational concepts and general introductory information.
  • Intermediate: Geared toward practitioners with a basic working knowledge of current practice trends and related literature. The emphasis is on enhancing understanding and applying concepts competently in practice.
  • Advanced: Intended for practitioners with a comprehensive grasp of the subject, informed by current theories, standards of practice, literature, and research. The focus is on recent advancements, emerging trends, and research applications in occupational therapy.
